What to expect from your first appointment:
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your first appointment to complete necessary paperwork. When you first arrive at LCBHS, our receptionists will ask you to complete documents pertaining to your basic identifying information, medical history, medications, consent to treatment, and insurance.
After the paperwork has been completed, you will meet with a psychologist, social worker, or student intern for your first intake appointment. Your intake therapist will ask questions to gain a thorough background history, including current/past psychiatric treatment, family, education/job, substance use, legal issues, medical concerns, and abuse. At the end of that session, your therapist will make treatment recommendations based on the information provided by you. Recommendations might include individual therapy, medication evaluation, case management, family therapy, or a substance abuse evaluation. Your intake therapist will then make necessary referrals and schedule any follow-up appointments.
